PRESS RELEASE 22nd AUGUST, 2025
Somerville’s Medicare Urgent Care Clinic
This can't be right? Federal government seem to be backflipping on a Medicare Urgent Care Clinic in Somerville and seeking tenders with a focus on Hastings as posted by Zoe McKenzie this morning.
Initiatives like this will be great for Somerville, bringing people to the town and boosting our local economy.
To all Somerville people please comment on Zoe McKenzie MP Facebook page to put our case. A clinic in Somerville will be used by people from Pearcedale, Langwarrin South, Baxter, Moorooduc, Tyabb and Mt Eliza with a reach of over 40 000 people (refer table below per 2021 Census).
Reports this morning are that Hastings already have 5 Bulk Billing Clinics, whilst Somerville, with more people, only have 3 Clinics in total that sometimes bulk bill. Surely the town with the larger population reach and lesser number of clinics deserves to have this Federal government commitment honoured as soon as possible.
Somerville Business Group Inc. is committed to promote Somerville as a great place to Shop, Work, Invest and Play for all relevant stakeholders.
